Flat Dome Splice Closures

Optotec have released an improved version of their FOCUS CODC ‘compact’ range of flat dome fibre optic splice closures. The second generation or CODC2 version includes an increase to splice capacity, QR codes for accessing relevant documentation and option to include Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) tags to make identification of the correct closure in the field easier.

RFID is a technology system able to automatically store pre-set data and information on people or objects, which can be accessed when scanned through an RFID scanning device to ensure correct products are being accessed as part of the workflow requirements.

Similarly the introduction of QR code labels for documentation helps reduce usage of paper and allows field engineers, installers and supervisors to access installation & other associated documentation to hand-held devices like a mobile phone, tablet or laptop computer.

Environmentally sealed (IP 68 per IEC 60529) with modular cassette management system enabling splicing and passive optical component integration in outside plant (OSP) fibre optic networks. Obtainable in component form or Daro Connectivity can create kits to match specific customer requirements which can include splice array modules, mounting brackets and splice protectors etc. to enable a complete one-stop supply.

FOCUS CODC2 closures are a butt cable entry design with two dome lengths configurations to ensure a solution to current network requirements can be readily accommodated. Closures can be deployed underground in man-holes, hand-holes or in pole-mount, wall and aerial applications and are available with pressure valve and grounding kit if required.

Available in one base style; ‘A’ with single oval port and 6 round ports. Bases can accommodate heat-shrink and cold sealing. Offered in two dome heights to accommodate the required customer splicing density.

Dome ‘A’ 380mm high with maximum splice capacity of 280 fibres and Dome ‘B’ 450mm high with maximum splice capacity of 432 fibres. Capacity is dependant upon type of SAMX HD splice array modules used.

Fibre splicing and management is controlled by Optotec’s FOCUS SAMX-HD (splice array modules) system which offers various splicing densities and functionality for single fibre, multi-fibre heat-shrink or crimp style splice protection. Please see Splice Array Modules for further details.
