CWDM & DWDM (Coarse & Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexers)

Daro Connectivity provides a range xWDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) products based on Thin-Film-Filter (TFF) technology ranging from single devices to multi-channel modules. We can provide solutions with or without factory terminated connectivity or incorporated into panels, cassettes or wall enclosures to suit individual customer requirements and applications.

Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) is an optical technology or technique used to modulate several data paths i.e. optical carrier signals of various wavelengths (colours of laser light), onto a single optical fibre.

WDM technology enables bi-directional communication as well as multiplication of the signal capacity. These WDM systems are divided based upon the wavelengths they operate within. Course wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) operating range is defined by ITU-T.G.694.2 with 18 central wavelengths, beginning with 1271 nm and spaced apart every 20 nm.

Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) operating range is defined by ITU-T.G.694.1 as frequency in THz affixed at 193.1 THz, specifying an array of channel spacing from 12.5 GHz to 200 GHz, most commonly used is 100 GHz. However, most DWDM products are referred to by wavelength, most specified in the ‘Conventional band or C-band’, 1530 nm to 1565 nm.
